SynthID Remover
Remove AI watermarks from ChatGPT & Gemini images

Remove Google's invisible SynthID watermark, C2PA metadata and StableSignature from images made with ChatGPT, Gemini and Imagen. Rephrasy redraws every pixel in a diffusion pass, so the watermark is gone and the image still looks the same. AI text from Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude works too.

Google's SynthID Detector is now public

Since October 7, anyone can upload a file at synthid.com and see whether it carries a SynthID watermark. No waitlist, no special access. It recognises media from Google, OpenAI, NVIDIA and Kakao, and Apple Intelligence images are coming soon.

What it checks

Images, video and audio made with Gemini, Imagen, Veo, ChatGPT and partner tools. Text is not supported.

What it doesn't tell you

It is not a general AI detector. Media from other generators shows nothing, and it doesn't say whether a file was fully generated or only edited with AI.

What changes for you

Clients, editors, platforms and teachers no longer need special access. A ChatGPT or Gemini image can now be checked by anyone in seconds.

Remove SynthID from ChatGPT images

Since May 2026, every image ChatGPT generates carries two watermarks: C2PA Content Credentials in the file's metadata and Google's invisible SynthID signal in the pixels. A screenshot drops the metadata. SynthID survives it.

C2PA metadata

A signed "made with OpenAI" manifest in the file. Visible to anyone who checks, and lost on a screenshot or re-save.

SynthID in the pixels

Spread across the pixel values, so it survives screenshots, cropping, resizing, JPEG compression and filters. Only redrawing the pixels in a diffusion pass removes it.

Three ways to remove it

  1. 1Upload the ChatGPT image in the tool above
  2. 2Stay in ChatGPT: connect Rephrasy and ask it to remove the watermark
  3. 3Process batches with the Image API
